What can counties do to help our children thrive? Come be inspired at the "100 Counties: Helping Our Children Thrive" Summit! This event will showcase innovative county programs that go above and beyond mandated responsibilities. Whether it’s prenatal care, quality education, or workforce readiness, county governments can do powerful things to support the growth and development of our young citizens. The summit will also provide a forum for county officials to develop a plan for addressing children’s issues in their own home counties through data, knowledge, and peer assistance. Counties are encouraged to attend as a team, with representation from the Board of Commissioners, County Manager’s Office, Human/Social Services leadership, and key community nongovernmental partners.
Overnight rooms: available at a special rate of $140 (plus tax). Make your reservation by phone at 800-242-6556 & mention you are with the NC Association of County Commissioners Child Welfare Workshop 201

Educational attainment is critical to North Carolina’s continued economic growth. To earn a family-sustaining wage in today’s economy, North Carolinians need some postsecondary education – whether that’s a four-year degree, an associate’s degree, a certificate or license in a career and technical field, or an apprenticeship. The myFutureNC Commission – comprised of state leaders in education, business, philanthropy, government, and faith-based and nonprofit communities – is reimagining the ways our communities, our regions, and our state support an individual’s attainment journey, from pre-Kindergarten through postsecondary and into the workforce. To help them in this task, the myFutureNC Listening Tour is collecting ideas and feedback from people all over the state. We want to hear from everyone: educators, parents, service providers, faith leaders, employees, employers, government representatives, and students.

This one-day interactive workshop provides local elected officials an opportunity to walk through a strategic cycle of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Participants will identify how components of planning and evaluation link together, clarify roles and responsibilities for each step in the process, and begin outlining what they would like to accomplish in their own planning, performance measurement, budgeting, and evaluation processes.
